OPEN DRESS REHEARSAL — August 24, 2019, 5 - 8 pm in Los Angeles, CA.
Friends and fans of TruffleMusik are invited to a private performance of Brahms Opus 118 prior to our recording sessions. These late piano works by Johannes Brahms are emotionally transcendent and could be considered to outline his life’s work in autobiographical form. The opening Intermezzo is a type of fanfare which sets the stage for the breathtaking romantic Intermezzo #2 which he wrote for Clara Schumann, his mentor and muse. The baudy Ballade #3 is reminiscent of his days spent playing piano in the harbor bars of Hamburg. Intermezzo #4 is about flying and meditation, followed in harmonic fashion by the chorale-like Romanza #5 which includes a bucolic “walk in the park” complete with bird calls and bubbling brooks. The Opus finale is a mystical work in the impossible key of E-flat minor which builds around a raga-like motif with cloudy lower-voiced commentary for its opening. The middle section is one of Brahms’s most heroic melodies, worthy of a John Williams film theme.
The addition of the cello to these masterworks only makes them better.
Join us for a sneak peak of what this music will sound like when it is recorded. Private residence and home of Trivers Myers Music is the location: 13045 Pacific Promenade, Unit 114, Playa Vista, California. Free admission. Street parking. Space is limited, please RSVP by sending us an e-mail to reserve your seats directly from this website.
